Sequoyah Country Club
Lawyers & Judges (Golf Association) played our March Sequoyah C.C. event yesterday, March 11, 2022. We were limited to 24 golfers and after cancellations the waitlist was exhausted, so it seems that everyone who wanted the suffering that Sequoyah offered, got it.
Our 1:30 shotgun was pushed back about 10 minutes, so some unfortunately finished in dark conditions. If we can get a post Daylight Savings Time date next year, we’ll do that.
We had beautiful March weather, temp in the low 60’s and only light winds. Even without strong winds, most found it difficult to score. Sequoyah’s greens provided all the defense the course needed. They were very quick downhill. Which would have been fine, but the difficulty reading the greens made uphill and downhill not always easy to discern, but shots that stopped short of the flag were easier putts than downhill putts from behind the hole.
In addition to our usual gross, net, closest to the hold and long drive contests, we also had an NCGA qualifier with four teams of two competing to qualify for two spots.
The big winner of the day was Jon Nightingale who took third net and won both Closest to the Hole contests. Congratulations Jon!
Gross Stroke Play
Nolan Lowry 83 – prevailed in a card-off;
John Dwyer 83;
Rodman Martin 96.
Net Stroke Play
Hardy Brunette, net 71;
Kevin Coleman, net 72;
Jon Nightingale, net 73
Long Drive Under 50: Adam Koss, Long Drive 50 & Older: Thomas Brooks
Closest to Hole #5, Jon Nightingale 15’10”, #12 Jon Nightingale 3’6” (shoutout to Kelly Park who hit it to four feet, but lost CTP by six inches!)
NCGA 4-Ball Net Qualifier
We qualified two teams, the winners were Coleman/Brooks at -1 and Strickland/Lowry at even par. Congratulations, represent LJGA well!
Congratulations to all the winners! Gift cards will be emailed.
