The Golf Course at Wente Vineyards
Well golfers, we’ve wrapped up our COVID-19 Pandemic shortened season. As is our custom, our final tournament of the year was the Jimmy Naylor Memorial Tournament. Unfortunately due to the pandemic we could not follow our Jimmy Naylor Memorial traditions and play at Contra Costa Country Club followed by a nice meal.
Instead, we had a beautiful day at The Course at Wente Vineyards on Tuesday November 10th. There were clear skies and only a slight breeze as our 24 golfers navigated the course, up and down, in and about the grape vines. Unfortunately, there also was no post round gathering.
The Jimmy Naylor Memorial trophy goes to the low net golfer of the day. This year, Dave Gamson ripped the field with his -2, net 70. Dave, your name will be engraved on the trophy alongside winners of years past. Congratulations!
The low round of the day was as tie between Mat Yamagata and Dave Marshall who both shot 82. Yamagata took first prize by winning a card-off, shooting a 39 on the back to Marshall’s 40. Peter Mankin took 3rd place low gross for his 83.
Second place low net went to Branly Cadet for his net 72 and Kevin Coleman took third low net for his net 73. Prizes will be emailed out.
Thanks to all who participated and supported the club this season. We are preparing our schedule for next season. So far we have Silverado booked for April 9 Sonoma Golf Club for August 19. Save the dates! We hope to return to more of our traditional venues next season too.
