Silverado North Course 2024
We had a contingent of 36 members and guests registered for Silverado. Despite the predicted rain nearly all showed up to face the challenging Silverado North Course. Due to the inaugural Bridgestone Challenge NCAA Men’s tournament just before ours, and next week's NCAA Women’s Silverado Showdown, the fairways were narrow, the rough wet and heavy (thanks rain), and the greens true and fast. There were more than a few four putts on the course and complaints of pin placements over post-round refreshments.
Before we teed off, due to the rain there was much discussion over whether to play the ball down or utilize lift clean and place. It was finally decided to lift, clean and place through the green. Much of the reasoning was that we want to have fun, and playing the ball down with the rough conditions would not have been fun.
Nolan Lowry took First in the Gross competition in a card-off over new member Patrick Kelly, both with 84s, and Mat Yamagata’s guest Michael Burke took third with an 87. Michael “Red” Hale won Closest to the Pin on #11 in his 2nd tournament with the club.

NCGA ASSOCIATE CLUB NET FOUR BALL QUALIFYING
Concurrent with the rest of our Silverado tournament, we held our club qualifying for the Associate Club Net Four Ball Championship. It’s a two-player net best ball competition and we’re sending two twosomes to the NCGA Qualifying. We had four twosomes signed up to play. We charged $30 to enter our qualifying and the club is paying the qualifiers’ NCGA Qualifying Round. NCGA events are fun to test your game in competitive rounds. And the Championship is played at Poppy Hills!
NCGA Qualifiers: Coleman/Marshall, Net 66 and Brooks/Cobb, Net 67.
