Richmond Country Club 2022

If you couldn’t make it to Thursday’s tournament at Richmond, or just weren’t interested, sorry, you missed out.

First off, thanks to our host, Joel Gumbiner (www.williamsgumbiner.com), an attorney in San Rafael.

By a few minutes after 7:00 a.m., the driving range was filling up with mostly members of Lawyers & Judges.  The air was crisp, the sun was bright (the driving range faces directly into the rising sun) and the dew sparkled on the grass.  The wind was just a light breeze to begin the day.

We had 24 players to start.  Our 8:00 shotgun start was a reverse shotgun, 1, 18 – 15.  The course was very playable.  We played the “Silver” tees, which turned out to be a Blue/White combo, that played to 5973 yards.  The greens broke severely.  Sometimes in unexpected directions.  The breeze picked up as the day went on, and, slightly uphill shots into the breeze often turned up short.

After golf we gathered in the clubhouse for lunch.  The Burger buffet was plentiful and good.  Caesar salad.  Potato salad.  Pasta salad.  Plenty of burgers, dogs, and veggie burgers.  Refreshed with hot ones.  Good buns.  Cheddar and swiss.  All the condiments of course, plus, grilled mushrooms and caramelized onions.  Kosher dills. For desert, brownies, cookies and coffee.  Ice tea and water on the tables.  After a round of golf it hit the spot.
