Lake Merced

We had unusually beautiful sunshine as we gathered at Lake Merced Golf Club Monday morning for our 10:00 Shotgun start. Post-round, Thomas Brooks' guest Bill Parker even commented that it was "one of the most beautiful mornings playing golf in San Francisco I've ever had."

The course was in immaculate condition, the fairways like carpet. The green surrounds where cut tight enough that many found best success putting from far off the green.

We gathered on the lawn outside Café Nineteen for a 19th hole refreshment, where both rounds were celebrated (only responsibly) and sorrows were (only responsibly) drowned.

Shot of the day goes to John Dwyer who holed his ball from 181 yards for eagle on the the par 4 7th, the toughest hole on the course. I'd say he gained a few strokes on the field with that 2! Way to go John! John was also our gross score winner by a mere 9 shots.
